History of the Partnership
History of the Go4Cosmetics Partnership
For over two decades, leadning stakeholders in the global cosmetics industry have collaborated closely through the Global Cosmetics Cluster - a network uniting organisations with a shared vision of sectoral development, innovation, and internationalisation.
This network, formalised in 2019, has fostered a powerful alliance, supporting the global growth of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and reinforcing the industry’s international presence.
Building on this foundation, European stakeholders recognised the need for a dedicated platform to strengthen the European cosmetics value chain. Leveraging the opportunities and support mechanisms provided by the European Commission, this collaboration led to the creation of the Global Cosmetics Cluster - Europe in 2019 - the first European metacluster specifically focused on the internationalisation of cosmetics SMEs.
To further expand beyond inter-clustering, stakeholders within the European cosmetics ecosystem sought a broader framework for cooperation. This ambition resulted in the formation of Go4Cosmetics in 2021, a Smart Specialisation Partnership formally recognised by the European Commission. This recognition marked a significant milestone in the structured development of the European cosmetics industry, reinforcing the progress made by the Global Cosmetics Cluster - Europe.
