We believe in strengthening the connection between regions, industry, and society. By promoting local expertise and know-how, we help raise awareness of the cosmetics industry's value—fostering greater appreciation for its cultural, scientific, and economic contributions. This includes supporting the growth of well-being tourism and enhancing the industry’s regional appeal.
Our 10 Recommendations for the future of the European Cosmetics Industry
On 3 July 2023, players in the European cosmetics sector met at the Committee of the Regions in Brussels to raise awareness among European public authorities and discuss the major challenges facing our industry.
These discussions resulted in 10 key recommendations, aimed at European elected representatives and their administrations, designed to support the sector's sustainable growth and boost innovation within an appropriate regulatory framework.
Setting up of a European Cosmetics Industry Committee to bring together stakeholders of the European Cosmetics Industry and representatives with the European Commission to partake in legislative matters with the aim of developing a comprehensive European strategy for the sector.
Formally recognize the cosmetics industry as an innovative sector and an economic force and solidify the sector’s position as the 15th European Industrial Ecosystem.
Develop and implement efficient legislation to ensure higher safety and quality standards for imported cosmetics products.
Acknowledge the cosmetics industry as an asset and powerful soft power tool for advancing European values and leverage this sector to enhance the EU’s influence and promote its ideal on a global scale.
Increased support and funding opportunities, particularly in research and innovation, targeted specifically to the cosmetics sector and industrial actors located in outermost regions of the EU.
Embrace the latest scientific research on cosmetics and align regulatory frameworks to allow industrial actors to effectively meet evolving consumer expectations.
Continued support and funding opportunities to bolster the internationalization of European SMEs.
Strengthen cooperation between the industry and European institutions to develop effective solutions addressing intellectual property protection and counterfeiting concerns.
Foster the active involvement of the cosmetics sector in discussions on environmental and green transition challenges, recognizing the industry’s stake and potential for its innovative solutions to benefit other industrial sectors.
Allocate resources to develop sector-specific vocational education and training programs aimed at enhancing digital and green skills, while also promoting sector-specific industrial career paths to attract a diverse pool of young professionals.
